You don’t have to reinvent the wheel when you plan on having a Halloween Party with kids. There are many popular games that can be modified to fit into any Halloween event. Some include:

Musical Chairs – Decorate the chairs with spider webs and mini plastic spiders and play Halloween sound effects. Leave one or two chairs without the webbing and see just how many kids scramble for them instead of the web covered ones!

Pin the Nose on the Jack-O-Lantern – All you need for this game is a huge piece of orange poster board, a black Sharpie marker, a laminated nose shape and tape of some sort. Create a whole Jack-O-Lantern face minus the nose on the poster board, cut out, and hang on a wall. Place some tape on the back of the nose and let the kids try to stick it in the right place. You can modify this game to be Pin the Wart on the Witch, Pin the Mouth on the Ghost…whatever you would like.

Bobbing for Jack-O-Lanterns – On oranges, draw Jack-O-Lantern faces with a Sharpie marker. Place in a huge tub or wading pool of water and have the kids bob away!

Witch, Witch, Ghost! – Instead of the old standby “Duck, Duck, Goose”, just add some Halloween characters and let the kids play. Any combination of ghost, witch, goblin, spider, black cat or other popular Halloween character can be used. If you don’t want to use scary characters, you can make it Pumpkin, Pumpkin, Jack-O-Lantern!

Guess How Many Candy Corns – In a container you purchase from a dollar store, place candy corns until it just barely will close. Have the party guests guess how many candy corns are inside. The person to guess closest wins the jar and all the candy corns inside! With bigger jars, you can put mini candy bars or lollipops instead of candy corns.

You can also use the costumes the kids are wearing at the party to create fun and exciting games. If someone comes to your party dressed like a princess, have them lead the game “Princess Says”. Or if you have an Elmo, you can play “Elmo May I?”

When you plan a get-together with little kids, be aware that no game will hold their attention for more than 15 minutes or so. Prepare 3 or 4 different games, so you can switch off easily when the guests lose interest.

Sometimes obtaining a duplicate of your credit score report can mean the difference between being pushed deeper in debt and getting out of it. Since most of us dont keep track of our credit score, it yften results in going deeper in debt without us even being aware of it. Each time that your payments are late or you miss out on one completely, you will most likely loose points on your credit score.

Creditors use your credit score to see how much you can be trusted to pay back all of your loans or purchases. And they do this each time you ask for a credit. In case that your credit score is low, you have fewer chances to receive credit because your credit score shows that you might be a high risk customer.

Creditors and lenders use computers that keep track of your credit practice and payments such as: paying bills, credit cards, missed or skipped payments, and generally all of your debt. The fact is that each time you miss or skip payments, your credit score gets lower and lower. Average persons credit score starts at a very high 800 points and from there each time that you miss or skip on your payments it gets lower and lower.

When your credit score plummets to a predetermined low score, which is in most cases somewhere around 500 points you might begin to think about filing for bankruptcy. Should you be the one to consider it you should know that a bankruptcy will stay with you for a long, long time. Also you must know that money owed as student loans or government taxes must be paid back and can not be cleared away by filing for bankruptcy. So if you are maybe in this kind of trouble be aware that a bankruptcy should not be used for this.

With the benefits of modern online shopping keeping good track of a credit score has become essential if we want to maintain good credit rating. Keeping your credit rating up to date will help you to stay well above the 500 points credit score and will save you from a lot of embarrassment and trouble down the road. If you can, try to maintain a credit score of 700 points and above. A copy of an accurate credit rating can be easily obtained online, but for the good ones you will have to pay a certain amount of money.

So in the end if you want to avoid bankruptcy and maintain good credit score you should always try to watch your credit score. There is also a possibility that your credit score contains incorrect items and you owe it to yourself to check it out and correct it. By keeping an eye on your credit rating you will also spot your bad habits before they get you in so much trouble youll have a very hard time getting out.

Tree Planting Guide

Fall is for planting trees. Planting hardy trees in the fall allows them to form a good root system before they must compete with the heat and humidity of hot summers. Fall and early winter are the best time to plant a tree. November is perfect month for this job.

Planting in the dormant season puts less stress on the newly planted trees. There is typically more than enough natural moisture, which allows the new trees to start forming roots without much intervention from us. However, if there is no rainfall for several weeks, you must water, even if it is chilly.

Do not plant your tree under or in the vicinity of power lines. Give the tree plenty of room to form its natural canopy and shape. Do not forget to take into the account the width of a mature tree. Do not plant a shade tree any closer than 15 feet from the foundation of the building.

Select tree that love the conditions you have. If you have a moist boggy soil, choose tree that prefer moisture. Similarly do not put something that likes water (for example, River Birch) in a dry site.

When planting a new tree, you should dig a hole which is 3 times as wide as the plants root ball, but only as deep as the root ball is. Do not change the existing soil. You can mix organic matter with the existing soil.

The depth of the hole should only be as deep as the root ball, or somewhat shallower. You must allow natural settling of the soil. In addition, do not bury your tree too deep. If you do, the roots will not develop because they will lack oxygen. No fertilization should be used at planting your new tree.

Once you planted your tree, apply mulch around it to a depth of 2 to 4 inches. There should be some space between the stem of the tree and the mulch.

Water is crucial aspect for success. Too little or too much can both cause the death of your tree. The site should be well drained and water deeply to support root formation.

If your tree is structurally good, staking is not required. On the other hand, if you have a tall tree with a small root system, or live in a region with strong winds, staking is required. In this case, use 2 or 3 stakes used with a flexible tie material.

Do not stake too tightly because there should some natural movement. Remove ties and stakes after the first year of growth.

Halloween Decorations in the Classroom

There are no more than 40 days left till Halloween but you hardly have a minute to think about all the productions, decorations and costumes for children as well as trying to organise your own Halloween party. We thought you might want some ideas of activities to ease you into the festive day with a minimum of work and fantastic results.
Halloween Wrapping Paper and Treat Bag
Making Halloween wrapping paper using your school art package couldn’t be easier. You will need: some examples of different types of paper to show the children and images from the internet to use (optional).
All you need to do is to design your pattern or picture and then use the titling tool (Fresco, Colour Magic) and tile it (Dazzle, Dazzle Plus, Dazzle 03 Granada Colours, Revelation Natural Art). For younger pupils or those with special needs you can restrict the number of tools and the palette available, or use stamps. For pupils who cannot use the select area tool you can make cardboard frames and move them around the screen to allow them to select an area. You can do this using an image of a pumpkin which was then tiled and flipped or you can make a treat bag using a net made from a bought bag. For a pumpkin treat bag you will need: Green tempera paint, Orange tempera paint, Sponge, Lunch bag, soap and water. All you have to do is apply orange paint to the palm of a hand with a sponge, press palm onto the paper bag and using your index finger and green paint, make stem and leaves on the pumpkins.
Make a Halloween Card or Table Cloth
Why not design a Halloween card to send to parents or friends using a pumpkin or a witch image as your inspiration? You need to find images of pumpkins, witches or ghosts. Teach your children to look at the pictures and notice the colours and shapes involved. Using the spray brush in the art package and lines of colour, create the effect you want. Talk about the intensity and mix of colours. Add a wash and ask if they think the effect is better. Show them that they can ‘undo’ an effect to take it back to the original. Add black shapes from the toolbar to simulate the ghosts. When they are happy about the effect add stars to make a star lighted decoration.
You can also make a Halloween table cloth using: White paper table cloth, Stickers, Colored Markers and Halloween pictures. The instructions are: Take an orange paper tablecloth and draw various Halloween ghosts on it. You can also draw goblins, pumpkins, black cats, etc. Then, stick on Halloween stickers and glue on any pictures that you think are related to Halloween.

Britain Holidays Prized Again

Nowadays the offers for great holiday are so many and so tempting that it is hard take a decision about where to go. Most of the offers are for spending the holiday overseas on the sunny coasts. But when deciding where to go there are so many things to be taken into consideration: the period, the whether and not last your family safety.

Inevitably when you travel abroad you have to fly and these days flying became one of the most stressful ways of travelling. This is one of ironies of modern life: when aircraft have become marvels of sophistication and comfort, a combination of Islamic mass-murderers, security nuts and overloaded airports makes the experience of going anywhere by plane very unpleasant. Starting with the departure lounge at Heathrow, the airport security line at Gatwick, the check-in at Manchester or the car park at Luton your trip begins under the auspices of threatening. The idea of nursing a pack of howling children through an airport terminal for hours, terrified of being caught carrying a tube of toothpaste or a bottle of milk makes you wonder where the holiday resting is.

But there are always other options and it only takes an open-minded person to see them. Have you ever thought about spending the holiday in the glens of Scotland? Britain has a lot to offer especially when you want to avoid a hell-flight across the Channel or the Atlantic. Of course, you can be caught in traffic jams and grubby motorway service areas, delayed trains and unreliable weather, but some of these events can be the spicy part of your holiday trip.

The joys of the open road and the wonderful things one can find at the end of it are what a caravan holiday is offering.

What is remarkable about Britain is how much remains today to be explored and revelled in. The great white beaches of the north coast are best choice if you are tired of the overcrowded islands and the tracts of England’s wildernesses, as well as Scotland’s, offer you the opportunity to walk all day while scarcely seeing another human. Every region of Britain boasts more historic houses and churches than one could visit in a month.

Christmas Season Starts Already

Harrods has a reputation for excellence with stores that are more than shopping destinations, more than just splendid buildings. Harrods has remained London’s premier retail outlet for over 155 years, yet the fundamental ethic of selling quality merchandise and giving customers exemplary service has never been questioned or compromised.

For the last decade Christmas starts early at Harrods: the Christmas World has been present from August for many years now and Harrods is saying that the foreign tourists are the main reason.

Peter Willasey, Harrods’ corporate communications director explains that: “There are cynics out there who say it is too early. If the whole store was decked out then yes, it would be too early, but that won’t be until the beginning of November. Just this one small area will be up and running before then.” Plus it seams that the demand from customers is very high and Harrods come to meet this demand as there are only 139 shopping days from the Christmas World launching to the real Christmas on December 25.

Harrods opened its ‘Christmas World’ of 15,000 sq ft with a Father Christmas clad in a red safari suit, accompanied by a zebra and with Bing Crosby’s ‘Let It Snow’ played in the background of the department store’s Christmas area. The combination was very appropriate considering the hot weather. Tinsel, Christmas trees, cards were not missing and the Harrods Christmas World was dazzled by a sleighload of the very finest Christmas decorations and gifts for all festive fancies. The Christmas cornucopia was crammed with everything from bears to baubles, so whatever the customers festive needs are, they’re sure to be met among the items crammed into the festive area on Harrods’ second floor. The priced for your festive needs vary from £329 to just 75p for a single bauble. The store plans to sell luxury crackers priced at £1,000 for a box of eight and even a £15,000 Christmas gift voucher for the person who has everything.

Virginia Hayward supplies a selection of christmas hampers and christmas gifts.

Major universities such as Oxford University, Harvard, Stanford, the University of Michigan and the University of California, as well as the New York Public Library are working with Google on a project called Google on the Books Library. The aim of the project is to put books online in a searchable format.

Google’s book search service is almost as old as Google itself. In 1996, Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page were graduate computer science students working on a research project supported by the Stanford Digital Library Technologies Project. Their goal was to make digital libraries work, and their big idea was as follows: in a future world in which vast collections of books are digitized, people would use a “web crawler” to index the books’ content and analyze the connections between them, determining any given book’s relevance and usefulness by tracking the number and quality of citations from other books.

There’s been a lot of discussion and debate about this project and about other projects that wanted to digitize the world’s books in order to make them easier for people to find and buy. Such projects are: the Library of Congress’s American Memory project, Project Gutenberg, the Million Book Project and the Universal Library where have for some years copied out-of-copyright books as text files, which can then be used for printing, reading or piping into a programme for editing. What Google came to offer now is books in a “print-ready” format which is a step forward from the digitalized books only to be read on-screen.

Google’s book searching device only access books that are no longer under copyright. For the books that are still under copyright Google Book Search offers only bibliographies along with limited extracts.

Google is trying to offer a wider spectrum of services planning to target the software market for companies. Google intends to offer companies the chance to run their email, calendar and other services on their own domains, to expand on the service it offers to individuals. If until now Google was focused on searching and advertising, it will come now in direct competition with software giant Microsoft.

Shopping for the Right Bed Sheets

Practical and pretty sheets on your bed can refresh a room with comfort and beauty.

High-quality bed sheets can last up to 15 years. When you buy bed sheets, whether you need king size sheets, queen size sheets, or twin sheets, you need to look at thread count and fabric as they determine the quality of a sheet.

They were traditionally white, but now often various colours and patterns are used. They are larger than the bed, so they can be tucked under the mattress in order to be kept in place. The quality of bed sheets is often conveyed by the thread count - the number of threads per square inch of material. Sheets with high thread counts in the 300-and-above range have a durable, lustrous, and soft fabric that gets softer over time and are considered luxury quality. Sheets with lower thread count sheets in the 80- to 120-thread count range have a rougher feel.

Thread count also determines whether a sheet is muslin or percale. Sheets with a thread count of 140 to 180 are muslin; everything higher is percale. In many areas of the world a second flat bed sheet is laid on top of the sheet covering the mattress. This is known as a “top sheet.”

Also style is equally important as material quality in selecting the proper sheets for your bedding needs. Crisp, white sheets never go out of style and are always a good selection whether as part of a set or purchased singly to mix and match. Sheets in colours, prints, plaids, and patterns are easy to find in all sizes and price ranges. Each fabric commonly used to make sheets has its own merits.

For comfort and durability, you should choose cotton. One-hundred-percent cotton is a natural and breathable fabric. The most commonly used for cotton sheets are flannel, muslin, oxford, percale, and sateen weaves.

Flannel sheets are warm and may be blended with either a synthetic fabric or cotton. They are typically used in cold climates or in winter because the napped finish provides warmth.

Muslin sheets, commonly used in children’s character-themed bedding, have a rough and tough feel and are at the low end of the cotton spectrum.
Oxford is a soft but heavy sheet.

Percale sheets offer a smooth, flat, and closely-woven fabric, finer than muslin.
Egyptian cotton sheets are highly durable, lustrous, and silky Egyptian cotton sheets usually have a thread count above 200. The most desired of all bedding fabrics, Egyptian cotton is made of extra-long fiber staples grown along the Nile River. Standard sizes are twin, full, Queen, King, California King.
Wash bedding in warm water using a gentle laundering agent with a final cold rinse. Remove washed bedding promptly from the machine to reduce wrinkling and also shake bedding out before machine drying.
